Hola chicas!
So I wanted to tell you about this awesome new thing called "polymer clay". I saw a bunch of YouTube videos where people showed their clay charms and other creations and thought it was really cool, so I went to the Michael's near my house. I bought Craftsmart white clay, Premo black clay, acrylic paints, earring hooks, jump rings, head pins, and metal jewelery chains.
What you do is take a chunk of the clay, knead until it is soft, then shape it. After you make whatever charm you want, you put whatever headpin, jump ring, or eye pin into the figurine and bake it following the baking instructions on the clay package. You then remove the clay from the oven and by the time it is done cooling, the figurine will be hard. Use the acrylic paint and a paintbrush to paint your figurine, then let it dry. Afterwards, you can thread it through a chain or twist your headpin into a hook to make a pendant and you have your new clay creation! :D
If you don't have steady hands or you live in a dusty house (little hairs and other gross stuff from the table stick to the clay and it looks especially bad on white clay) just buy colored clay with no paint instead of buying white clay and acrylic paint. Also, you don't have to buy any jewelery supplies if you just wanna make figurines, it's up to you!
I also posted a video on YouTube of my first OFFICIAL charm update, so here's a link:
I'm planning on doing a lot more charm updates because I love arts & crafts, especially this material, because it is SO easy to work with. Keep your eyes open!
More to come,
Emily <3
